Originally possessed to own a Trex 450 RC Helicopter 5 years ago, I had no idea how it flew. I bought it bits at a time, paid no attention to forums as I thought those guys were Geeks and ended up with a fully working Helicopter and a transmitter I could not understand how to setup.
 
I ended up selling it without ever having taken off. I then got the bug again after a year so decided to start off with a cheaper smaller model. A Walkera 22E – This ended up flying a few times, each flight must have been at least 5 seconds and then a rebuild was in order each time after the crash. Then I progressed to a Walkera 60B – Flight time was seconds again, except for the longest flight when i had not turned on the transmitter and it just flew .... until crasing into the neighbours TV ariel. I was way too impatient, just wanted to get it in the air and was expecting some divine help with landing it.

 

I went for an Align Trex 450 again, as the build quality is excellent and there is no play in the parts unlike the Walkera’s I had previously, thinking that I could blame substandard parts for my lack of skill. I am still a bad pilot, but I am actually taking time to get the Helicopter right before I throw it in the air and crash it. It is the things I over looked previously like blade balancing that I take time over now.

 

I have created this site as a point of reference for the main items you will need and excellent places to go for information and parts so that you can get your Helicopter off the ground and have some fun. I have spent a lot of time on the forums, and found myself getting lost in pages of muddle, just to find out what charger to use. So here it is, a concise guide for you to peruse.
