Align TREX 250 RC Helicopter Review
Radio controlled helicopters are widely popular nowadays. These are miniature models of helicopters controlled using radio frequency technology. These are distinctly different from RC airplanes. The construction and aerodynamics are different. Controlling and flying an RC helicopter is far more difficult and requires a lot more practice and training.
One such model is the Align TREX 250 RC Helicopter. This is the smallest model that Align manufactures. This is a do it yourself model and the user can construct the model all by himself. They can be flown both indoors and outdoors. It is a frequent entry in competitions and performs outstanding 3D moves. The micro helicopters are similar to the bigger models. The only difference between the two is that the micro helicopters can be flown in smaller spaces. The Align TREX 250 heli, with its powerful features gives a satisfactory and enjoyable experience.
The Align TREX 250 sized Radio Controlled Helicopter is Align’s first attempt at a micro helicopter. All the past criticism has been taken into account and this model is a much better one than the previous Align Models of that size. Align has modified the pinion gear and the tail boom. The result is a micro helicopter that performs admirably. The size maybe much smaller than that of Align’s other models but the performance and qualities are still the same.
As mentioned above, The TREX 250 comes as a do it yourself model. However assembling this is quite a simple process. Laymen can assemble the model without much trouble. The instructions are easy to follow and the parts are labelled clearly. The hardest part of the assembly is most probably the threading of the ball links. The head comes fully assembled and the flybar cage can be assembled with the utmost ease. But one can ease the process by clamping a link rod. The carbon mainframe is similar to the TREX 450 RC Helicopter and is easy to assemble.
The resulting structure is very rigid and solid. The helicopter can be manoeuvred into flights in all the three dimensions. The landing gear is easily affixed. The tail comes pre-assembled. Once this is done you have only a few more steps. Fix the tail boom, clean the wires and mount the ESC. Once you set the pitch range your T-REX is airworthy.
There are three separate kits the TREX 250 RC Helicopter comes in. There is the standard kit with a standard motor and ESC. Next there is the Combo Standard kit which has an additional three servos operated digitally. These three servos help cyclic motion. Then there is the Super Combo. This has the Standard Combo along with a rudder servo motor and heading lock gyro.
This is a sturdy built helicopter model and can withstand some really bad crashes. It is advised to be careful and fly the helicopter efficiently, but this helicopter can take some bad crashes and still fly. This model costs a very affordable $200. The total length of the model is 430mm and when completely assembled weighs a low 330g. This one of Align’s best model helicopters and is very good buy. It is completely worth the money paid.
